Natural stone slabs: the base of countertops, floors and walls
Natural stone slabs: the base of countertops, floors and walls
A stone slab is a large flat piece of natural stone, usually 20 mm or 30 mm thick, cut from a block and finished on one face. Fabricators cut slabs into kitchen countertops, vanity tops, stair treads and wall panels, and stone yards stock them for homeowners and builders. Natural Stone Cart is a natural stone slab exporter in India supplying granite, marble, quartzite and onyx slabs. We are a stone slabs supplier for fabricators, wholesalers and project buyers.
If you are searching for granite and marble slabs, natural stone slabs wholesale or stone slabs supplier India, this page explains what to choose.
Which stone slab is right for your market?
Granite slabs are the best seller for kitchen countertops because of their hardness and heat resistance. Quartzite slabs bring even more strength and a flowing, marble-like look, though large slab-quality material is more limited. Marble slabs are loved for floors, walls and bathrooms, and onyx slabs are used for feature walls and lighting. We show real photos of each lot so your customers choose with confidence.
Gangsaw, cutter and book-matched slabs
Gangsaw slabs are cut on multi-blade machines and are large and consistent. Cutter slabs are cut singly and are often more economical. Book-matched slabs are two or more neighbouring slabs opened like the pages of a book, so the pattern mirrors across the joint. They are used on feature walls and hotel lobbies.
We can supply any of these formats and mark the order of the slabs in each bundle.
Finishes and thickness
Slabs are available polished, honed, flamed, brushed, leathered or antique. Polished slabs shine and show the deepest colour. Honed and leathered slabs have a softer look and hide marks. Flamed and brushed finishes give grip for outdoor use. Thicknesses of 20 mm and 30 mm are standard, and thinner or thicker slabs can be discussed.
Bundles, inspection and photos
We pack slabs in bundles of consecutive pieces so that colour and pattern flow from one to the next. Before loading we check thickness, flatness, polish and edges, and we send bundle photos. You can ask for slab-by-slab photos for premium orders and for third-party inspection.
Because stone is natural, small veins, spots and fissures are normal in many stones. We explain what is normal and what is not, and we agree grading rules with you in advance.
Packing and shipping slabs
Slabs are packed upright in strong frames made of treated timber, with protection between faces and strapping to prevent movement. Granite and marble are heavy, so we plan container load by weight, and a 20ft container usually carries roughly 25 to 28 tonnes subject to port and road limits. We ship from Mundra and Kandla and send loading photos. Worked slabs are generally classified under HS heading 6802.
Working with architects, builders and fabricators
Professional buyers need more than a price. Architects want samples and clear specifications. Builders want the right quantity on the right date. Fabricators want slabs that cut well and match across a project. We support all of them with real photos, written specifications, labelled packing and honest delivery dates. Professional buyers value written specifications, labelled packing and honest delivery dates.
For larger projects we can produce in batches, keep reference samples, and share progress photos. If you send a bill of quantities or drawings, we check the details and tell you early if something needs a decision, such as the size of a piece or the thickness of an edge.
Natural variation: what to expect
Natural stone is a natural material, so no two pieces are exactly the same. Colour, grain, veins and small marks vary from slab to slab and from lot to lot. This variation is part of the beauty of the stone, and a good design plans for it. To reduce differences on a project, buy all material from the same lot, keep slabs in bundle order and lay pieces out before fixing them.
We tell you honestly what to expect from each stone, and we send photos of the real lot. If your project needs very tight colour matching, tell us early, and we will select accordingly.
Care and maintenance
Natural stone is easy to look after with soft cloths and mild cleaners. As with any natural stone, use soft cloths, mild cleaners made for stone and clean up spills quickly. Avoid strong acids and harsh abrasive pads. For floors, use mats at entrances to catch grit, and protect the surface under heavy furniture.
We give simple care instructions you can share with your own customers. Good care keeps the stone looking fresh for decades, which is why natural stone is considered a long-term investment in a building.
Start with a trial order and grow from there
If you are new to importing natural stone slabs from India, we suggest a simple plan. First, tell us what sells in your market. Second, review photos and approve samples. Third, place a trial container with a mix of colours or sizes. Fourth, after you receive the stone and see how your customers react, plan repeat orders and volume contracts.
Many of our long-term customers began with one mixed container. We keep your preferred selection and packing details on file, so repeat orders are faster, and we keep you updated if a colour or size changes.

What affects the price of natural stone slabs
Buyers often ask for one simple price, but the price of natural stone slabs depends on several things. The stone variety and its rarity matter most, because some colours come from small quarries and cost more. Thickness, size and surface finish change the cost, since thicker and larger pieces need more material and more careful handling. Calibration, meaning how exact the thickness and size are, also adds work. Selection grade matters too: a premium selection with very even colour costs more than a mixed commercial selection. Quantity helps, because bigger orders spread packing and loading costs. Finally freight terms (FOB or CIF), the destination port and the exchange rate affect the final number.
Natural stone is heavy, so weight, not space, usually decides how much fits in a container. To get a fair comparison between suppliers, always ask for quotes on the same stone, size, thickness, finish and terms. We write all of these clearly in our quotation, so you can compare line by line.
