Quartzite: one of the strongest natural stones
Quartzite: one of the strongest natural stones
Quartzite is a metamorphic stone formed when quartz-rich sandstone is changed by heat and pressure. The quartz grains lock together, which makes quartzite very hard, dense and resistant to weather and wear. Its surface often has a gentle sparkle and flowing bands of grey, gold, silver, pink or white. Natural Stone Cart is a quartzite stone supplier in India, supplying tiles, slabs, paving and wall cladding.

Quartzite for floors, fireplaces and outdoor use
Quartzite is a hard, non-foliated metamorphic rock that was originally pure quartz sandstone, and it has a more unique texture than the original sandstone. It is incredibly durable, heat resistant and versatile, which makes it a great option for flooring, fireplace surrounds and outdoor use. Quartzite tiles are easy to maintain and are an environmentally conscious flooring option.
Types of Indian quartzite
Quartzite in India occurs in several regions, including Rajasthan. Common trade names include Silver Shine, Golden Quartzite, Himalayan-style multicolour and various grey and rusty mixes. Colours range from silver-grey with sparkling mica to warm gold and rust. Natural split quartzite is widely used for wall cladding, because the surface has lots of texture, while sawn or polished quartzite is used for floors and counters.
Colour and pattern vary from lot to lot, so approve photos and samples.
Why choose quartzite
- Extremely hard and scratch resistant.
- Very low water absorption in good grades.
- Good frost resistance for cold climates.
- Beautiful natural bands and sparkle.
- Long life in outdoor and indoor use.
Quartzite is often compared with granite. Both are strong, but quartzite can show softer, flowing patterns and a more translucent look in some varieties.
Uses
Quartzite is used for flooring, outdoor paving, steps, wall cladding, feature walls, kitchen counters and facades. Natural cleft panels give strong texture for walls. Sawn tiles give clean lines for floors. Polished slabs can create elegant tops and wall panels where slab-grade material is available.
We recommend discussing slab availability early, because large slab-quality quartzite is limited compared with tiles and cladding.
Finishes and sizes
Finishes include natural split, sawn, honed, brushed and polished. Tile sizes include 300 x 300 mm, 600 x 300 mm and 600 x 600 mm, plus custom cuts. Cladding comes in strips and panels in various sizes and mixed colours. Paving can be supplied in calibrated thickness.
We will advise the best size and finish for your use.
Shipping quartzite
Quartzite is heavy and dense, so we plan load weight carefully. Packing uses cartons, crates or pallets with edge protection and strapping. We ship from Mundra and Kandla. Customs classification is generally under heading 6802 for worked stone and 2516 for crude stone in blocks, and your broker will confirm.
Samples, photos and approval before you order
Natural stone changes from one lot to another, so we never ask you to buy without seeing it. For quartzite, we send real photos and short videos of the stone you will receive, and we can courier a small sample so you can check colour, pattern and finish in your own light. Samples work best when they come from the same lot as your order, so please tell us if you want the sample and the container to match closely.
When you approve a sample, we keep a reference piece. If your order is large, we can send bundle photos before loading, or arrange third-party inspection. This simple process protects you from surprises and protects our relationship with you. Ask us for samples on our request samples page.
Planning your container and shipment
A good load plan saves money. A standard 20ft container can usually carry roughly 25 to 28 tonnes, but the exact limit depends on the shipping line and on road and port rules in your country. Quartzite is very hard and dense, so loads are planned by weight. We calculate the load by weight and by size, so you do not pay for space you cannot use. Mixed containers are possible: you can combine different stones, sizes or products, which helps wholesale buyers keep stock varied.
We ship from the ports of Mundra and Kandla in Gujarat to ports around the world, and we share photos of the loading so you can see how your stone is secured. Sea freight time depends on the route and the shipping line, and we give you an expected time with each quote.
Export documents and customs for quartzite
Clear paperwork keeps your container moving. For every shipment we prepare the commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading, and where your country needs it, a certificate of origin and other documents. Packing wood is treated for export, and we can supply the treatment details if your port requires them. Worked quartzite is generally classified under HS heading 6802, and crude stone under a Chapter 25 heading, depending on the product; your broker will confirm.
Customs rules and duty rates differ by country, so please confirm the exact classification and duty with your customs broker or the official tariff of your country. If you tell us your port and clearing agent, we will send documents in the format they prefer, and we are happy to answer their questions directly.
Quality control, inspection and claims
Before packing quartzite, our team checks size, thickness, surface, colour and edges. We separate pieces that do not meet the agreed standard, and we explain what is natural variation and what is a defect. You are welcome to arrange third-party inspection before loading, and we cooperate fully with inspectors.
If a problem is found when the container arrives, tell us quickly and send photos of the packing, the damaged pieces and the container condition. We look at each case fairly and work with you on a solution. Good packing, honest photos and clear agreements keep claims rare.
Working with architects, builders and fabricators
Professional buyers need more than a price. Architects want samples and clear specifications. Builders want the right quantity on the right date. Fabricators want slabs that cut well and match across a project. We support all of them with real photos, written specifications, labelled packing and honest delivery dates. Buyers usually ask for tiles, cladding and paving first, and slabs when availability allows.
For larger projects we can produce in batches, keep reference samples, and share progress photos. If you send a bill of quantities or drawings, we check the details and tell you early if something needs a decision, such as the size of a piece or the thickness of an edge.
