Natural stone tiles for floors and walls

Natural stone tiles for floors and walls

Natural stone tiles are slim pieces of granite, marble, sandstone, limestone, slate, quartzite or basalt cut to even sizes. They give floors and walls a quality that no printed tile can match, with real depth, natural variation and long life. Natural Stone Cart is a natural stone tile manufacturer and exporter in India. We supply stone tiles in standard and custom sizes for wholesalers, builders, architects and stone yards.

If you are searching for stone tiles India, natural stone tile exporter, granite tiles, sandstone tiles or slate tiles, this guide will help you pick the right product.

Choosing the right stone for tiles

Granite tiles suit heavy traffic and outdoor use. Marble tiles suit dry indoor floors and walls. Limestone tiles give a calm, even look, and Kota stone is a favourite for commercial floors. Sandstone tiles suit patios, terraces and rustic interiors. Slate tiles are great for bathrooms and feature walls with a split-face texture. Basalt tiles give a dark, modern floor. Mixing materials in one project is common and often looks excellent.

Sizes, thickness and calibration

Typical sizes include 300 x 300 mm, 400 x 400 mm, 600 x 300 mm, 600 x 600 mm and bigger formats. Thickness is 10 mm for walls, 15–20 mm for floors and thicker for outdoor use. Calibrated tiles have a small thickness tolerance, which gives flat floors and quick laying. We also cut to custom sizes and make borders, skirtings, steps and mosaics.

Finishes for different spaces

  • Polished: glossy, best for dry indoor floors and walls.
  • Honed: matte, quiet and popular in modern interiors.
  • Brushed and antique: textured with an aged look.
  • Flamed: very high grip for outdoor areas.
  • Natural split: rustic texture for slate and quartzite walls.

For wet areas, always choose a finish with enough grip for your country’s rules.

Standards and testing

Many countries expect natural stone floor and wall tiles to follow product standards, for example the EN 12057 series for modular tiles and EN 1341 for external paving in Europe. Test results depend on the stone and lot. Ask us for available test information and tell us which standards your market needs so we can plan.

Packing and shipping tiles

Tiles are packed in cartons with spacers, stacked on pallets and strapped, or placed in wooden crates for extra protection. We plan the container by weight and size, and mixed containers are possible. We ship from Mundra and Kandla and share photos. Worked stone tiles are generally under HS heading 6802, and slate tiles under 6803.

Care and maintenance

Natural stone is easy to look after with soft cloths and mild cleaners. As with any natural stone, use soft cloths, mild cleaners made for stone and clean up spills quickly. Avoid strong acids and harsh abrasive pads. For floors, use mats at entrances to catch grit, and protect the surface under heavy furniture.

We give simple care instructions you can share with your own customers. Good care keeps the stone looking fresh for decades, which is why natural stone is considered a long-term investment in a building.

Start with a trial order and grow from there

If you are new to importing natural stone tiles from India, we suggest a simple plan. First, tell us what sells in your market. Second, review photos and approve samples. Third, place a trial container with a mix of colours or sizes. Fourth, after you receive the stone and see how your customers react, plan repeat orders and volume contracts.

Many of our long-term customers began with one mixed container. We keep your preferred selection and packing details on file, so repeat orders are faster, and we keep you updated if a colour or size changes.

What affects the price of natural stone tiles

Buyers often ask for one simple price, but the price of natural stone tiles depends on several things. The stone variety and its rarity matter most, because some colours come from small quarries and cost more. Thickness, size and surface finish change the cost, since thicker and larger pieces need more material and more careful handling. Calibration, meaning how exact the thickness and size are, also adds work. Selection grade matters too: a premium selection with very even colour costs more than a mixed commercial selection. Quantity helps, because bigger orders spread packing and loading costs. Finally freight terms (FOB or CIF), the destination port and the exchange rate affect the final number.

Natural stone is heavy, so weight, not space, usually decides how much fits in a container. To get a fair comparison between suppliers, always ask for quotes on the same stone, size, thickness, finish and terms. We write all of these clearly in our quotation, so you can compare line by line.

Samples, photos and approval before you order

Natural stone changes from one lot to another, so we never ask you to buy without seeing it. For natural stone tiles, we send real photos and short videos of the stone you will receive, and we can courier a small sample so you can check colour, pattern and finish in your own light. Samples work best when they come from the same lot as your order, so please tell us if you want the sample and the container to match closely.

When you approve a sample, we keep a reference piece. If your order is large, we can send bundle photos before loading, or arrange third-party inspection. This simple process protects you from surprises and protects our relationship with you. Ask us for samples on our request samples page.

Planning your container and shipment

A good load plan saves money. A standard 20ft container can usually carry roughly 25 to 28 tonnes, but the exact limit depends on the shipping line and on road and port rules in your country. Natural stone is heavy, so weight, not space, usually decides how much fits in a container. We calculate the load by weight and by size, so you do not pay for space you cannot use. Mixed containers are possible: you can combine different stones, sizes or products, which helps wholesale buyers keep stock varied.

We ship from the ports of Mundra and Kandla in Gujarat to ports around the world, and we share photos of the loading so you can see how your stone is secured. Sea freight time depends on the route and the shipping line, and we give you an expected time with each quote.
