Granite slabs for countertops, floors and walls

A granite slab is a large flat piece of stone, cut from a block and polished. Fabricators cut it into kitchen tops, vanity tops, stairs and wall panels.

We supply two common types. Gangsaw slabs are large slabs with even thickness. Cutter slabs are smaller and cost less, and many buyers use them for tops and tiles. We help you pick the one that suits your work and your budget.

Every bundle is checked, packed in a strong frame and loaded into the container with care.

Granite slabs: ready to fabricate

Granite slabs: ready to fabricate

A granite slab is a large flat piece of polished stone, cut from a block and finished on the surface. Fabricators cut slabs into kitchen countertops, vanity tops, stair treads and wall panels. Stone yards stock slabs for their customers. Natural Stone Cart exports granite slabs from India in gangsaw and cutter formats, in many colours, with polished, honed, flamed, brushed and leathered finishes.

If you need a granite slab supplier in India, a granite gangsaw slabs exporter, or a source of natural stone slabs for wholesale, this guide will help you choose.

Gangsaw slabs and cutter slabs: what is the difference?

Gangsaw slabs are cut from a block on a gangsaw or multi-wire machine that slices many slabs at once. They are large, with even thickness and consistent size, and they are ideal for big countertops, islands, wall panels and flooring. Cutter slabs are cut one at a time on a block cutter or bridge cutter. They are often smaller and more economical, and many yards use them for tops, vanities, steps and as raw material for tiles.

Which is better? It depends on your product and your budget. If you sell large kitchen tops, gangsaw slabs usually give a better yield. If you cut a lot of small pieces, cutter slabs can save money. We explain the difference in your quote and can supply both.

Thickness: 20 mm and 30 mm

The two most common thicknesses are 20 mm and 30 mm. A 20 mm slab is lighter and often used for kitchen countertops in markets where the top is supported by a continuous base, as well as for walls and floors. A 30 mm slab is thicker and stronger, preferred in markets where overhangs are common or where the top has limited support. Other thicknesses are possible. A thicker slab weighs more, which affects how many slabs fit in a container.

Tell us your market and the installation method and we will recommend a thickness.

Finishes and colours

Polished slabs shine and bring out the full colour of the stone. Honed slabs are matte. Flamed and brushed slabs are textured for outdoor and non-slip use, and leathered slabs have a soft texture that hides marks. Popular Indian colours include Black Galaxy, Absolute Black, Tan Brown, Imperial Red, Kashmir White, S White, Steel Grey and many multicolour granites. We share real slab photos of each lot, because granite varies naturally from one lot to another.

Ask for the exact lot you will receive, and for bundle photos if you want to choose slab by slab.

Quality checks on slabs

Before packing, we check thickness with calipers, flatness, polish level, edges and visible defects such as cracks or open pits. Granite often has natural features such as small veins or fissures; we explain what is normal and what is a defect for your market. Many yards treat fissures as normal if the slab is structurally sound. We agree grading rules with you before shipping, and we can arrange third-party inspection.

Resin filling of natural pits is common for some granites. Tell us if you need slabs without resin or with light filling, so we can select properly.

Packing and container loading

Slabs are packed in bundles with the polished faces together and protected with wooden frames made of treated timber. Bundles are lifted by crane or forklift and secured in the container to avoid movement. Because granite is heavy, the weight limit of the container is usually reached first. A standard 20ft container can carry roughly 25 to 28 tonnes, subject to local road and port rules, so we calculate the number of bundles by weight.

We ship from Mundra and Kandla to ports worldwide and share photos of each bundle, the marking and the loaded container. Customs classification for worked granite slabs is usually under HS heading 6802, which your broker will confirm.

How to order granite slabs

Send us the colour or a photo, thickness, finish, quantity in square metres or bundles, and your destination port. We reply within 24 hours with prices and photos. You can combine slabs with tiles, countertops or paving in the same container. Read more on our granite countertops and natural stone slabs pages, or contact us for a free quote today.

Natural variation: what to expect

Granite is a natural material, so no two pieces are exactly the same. Colour, grain, veins and small marks vary from slab to slab and from lot to lot. This variation is part of the beauty of the stone, and a good design plans for it. To reduce differences on a project, buy all material from the same lot, keep slabs in bundle order and lay pieces out before fixing them.

We tell you honestly what to expect from each stone, and we send photos of the real lot. If your project needs very tight colour matching, tell us early, and we will select accordingly.

Care and maintenance

Granite is easy to look after and seldom needs more than a mild cleaner and an occasional seal on lighter, open-grained colours. As with any natural stone, use soft cloths, mild cleaners made for stone and clean up spills quickly. Avoid strong acids and harsh abrasive pads. For floors, use mats at entrances to catch grit, and protect the surface under heavy furniture.

We give simple care instructions you can share with your own customers. Good care keeps the stone looking fresh for decades, which is why natural stone is considered a long-term investment in a building.

Start with a trial order and grow from there

If you are new to importing granite slabs from India, we suggest a simple plan. First, tell us what sells in your market. Second, review photos and approve samples. Third, place a trial container with a mix of colours or sizes. Fourth, after you receive the stone and see how your customers react, plan repeat orders and volume contracts.

Many of our long-term customers began with one mixed container. We keep your preferred selection and packing details on file, so repeat orders are faster, and we keep you updated if a colour or size changes.
