Indian white marble: bright, clean and timeless
Indian white marble: bright, clean and timeless
White marble has been a symbol of luxury and peace for centuries. Its soft glow makes rooms feel larger and brighter, and its fine veins give a natural, elegant pattern. India is home to some of the world’s most famous white marble. The Makrana region in Rajasthan produces pure white crystalline marble, which was used for the Taj Mahal. Natural Stone Cart supplies white marble slabs, tiles and blocks as a white marble supplier in India.
If you are looking for white marble India, Indian white marble, white marble slabs or a white marble exporter, this page explains the main types and how to choose.
Types of Indian white marble
White marble comes in many shades. Some types are bright snow white with very fine grey veins. Others are creamy or slightly grey, with stronger veins. Makrana white is known for its pure white crystalline structure and long-lasting shine. Marbles from Udaipur, Rajsamand and Banswara are often off-white or greyish-white, and are widely used for floors and wall cladding. The Jaipur region provides a white stone with green laths known by trade names like Andhi Pista.
Because naming differs between suppliers, always ask for photos of the lot and a sample. We show you the real slabs before shipping.
Where white marble looks best
- Floors and walls of living rooms and lobbies.
- Bathrooms and spa areas.
- Stairs and handrails.
- Table tops, vanity tops and decorative items.
- Feature walls with book-matched slabs.
White marble looks especially good with natural light, warm timber and metal fittings. In bright climates it also keeps floors cooler to the touch.
Strength and care
White marble is softer than granite and more sensitive to acids and stains. Lemon juice, vinegar, wine and some cleaning products can leave dull marks on a polished surface. The solution is simple: seal the marble after installation, wipe spills quickly and use cleaners made for natural stone. For areas with heavy traffic or acid exposure, a honed finish hides marks better than a high polish.
Many buyers choose white marble for floors, walls and bathrooms and choose granite or quartzite for kitchen counters. That way each stone does the job it does best.
Finishes and sizes
We offer white marble in polished, honed and brushed finishes. Slabs are available in 18–20 mm and 30 mm. Tiles are available from 300 x 300 mm to 600 x 600 mm and larger, with thickness from 10 mm to 20 mm. For hotel and villa projects we cut to size, label every piece and pack in order.
We also supply white marble blocks for factories that want to cut their own slabs.
Shipping white marble
White marble is packed face to face with spacers, bundled in treated timber frames and secured in the container. Because white stone shows stains easily, we keep it dry and clean during packing. We ship from Mundra and Kandla to ports around the world, and share loading photos with you. Export documents include invoice, packing list and bill of lading. Customs classification is generally heading 2515 for blocks and 6802 for worked marble, which your broker will confirm.
Samples, photos and approval before you order
Natural stone changes from one lot to another, so we never ask you to buy without seeing it. For white marble, we send real photos and short videos of the stone you will receive, and we can courier a small sample so you can check colour, pattern and finish in your own light. Samples work best when they come from the same lot as your order, so please tell us if you want the sample and the container to match closely.
When you approve a sample, we keep a reference piece. If your order is large, we can send bundle photos before loading, or arrange third-party inspection. This simple process protects you from surprises and protects our relationship with you. Ask us for samples on our request samples page.
Planning your container and shipment
A good load plan saves money. A standard 20ft container can usually carry roughly 25 to 28 tonnes, but the exact limit depends on the shipping line and on road and port rules in your country. Marble is dense and more delicate than granite, so we use extra protection between slabs and plan loads by weight. We calculate the load by weight and by size, so you do not pay for space you cannot use. Mixed containers are possible: you can combine different stones, sizes or products, which helps wholesale buyers keep stock varied.
We ship from the ports of Mundra and Kandla in Gujarat to ports around the world, and we share photos of the loading so you can see how your stone is secured. Sea freight time depends on the route and the shipping line, and we give you an expected time with each quote.
Export documents and customs for white marble
Clear paperwork keeps your container moving. For every shipment we prepare the commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading, and where your country needs it, a certificate of origin and other documents. Packing wood is treated for export, and we can supply the treatment details if your port requires them. Marble blocks are generally classified under HS heading 2515, and worked marble under 6802.
Customs rules and duty rates differ by country, so please confirm the exact classification and duty with your customs broker or the official tariff of your country. If you tell us your port and clearing agent, we will send documents in the format they prefer, and we are happy to answer their questions directly.
Quality control, inspection and claims
Before packing white marble, our team checks size, thickness, surface, colour and edges. We separate pieces that do not meet the agreed standard, and we explain what is natural variation and what is a defect. You are welcome to arrange third-party inspection before loading, and we cooperate fully with inspectors.
If a problem is found when the container arrives, tell us quickly and send photos of the packing, the damaged pieces and the container condition. We look at each case fairly and work with you on a solution. Good packing, honest photos and clear agreements keep claims rare.
Working with architects, builders and fabricators
Professional buyers need more than a price. Architects want samples and clear specifications. Builders want the right quantity on the right date. Fabricators want slabs that cut well and match across a project. We support all of them with real photos, written specifications, labelled packing and honest delivery dates. Marble projects often need book-matched slabs and tight colour matching, so we plan these early.
For larger projects we can produce in batches, keep reference samples, and share progress photos. If you send a bill of quantities or drawings, we check the details and tell you early if something needs a decision, such as the size of a piece or the thickness of an edge.
