Engineered quartz and porcelain alongside natural stone
Engineered quartz and porcelain alongside natural stone
Some projects need a very even colour, a large size or a specific design that natural stone cannot always provide. In those cases, engineered quartz and porcelain slabs and tiles can be a good complement. Natural Stone Cart can help you source selected engineered quartz surfaces and porcelain products from India and ship them together with your natural stone order.
If you are searching for quartz surfaces supplier India, engineered quartz slabs India, porcelain tiles supplier India or artificial stone surfaces, this page explains the options.
Quartz surfaces: sizes, thickness and series
Quartz stone surfaces combine natural quartz and other raw materials into a surface that is extraordinarily hard and resilient. They suit kitchen countertops, bathrooms, flooring and wall siding, and they resist heat, stains and scratches. We offer high-quality, low-maintenance quartz surfaces in slab dimensions of 126 x 63 inches and 137 x 76 inches, with approximate thickness of 1.5, 2.0 and 3.0 cm, available in the Calacatta, Sparkle, Vein, Ice White and Marble series.
Porcelain tiles in 400 x 400 and 600 x 600 mm
Porcelain tiles are denser and harder than ceramic, so they are less porous: harder, more durable and they absorb less water. Porcelain offers unmatched design versatility with many finishes and textures. It is commonly used to cover floors and walls in both wet and dry areas such as living spaces, offices, bathrooms and kitchens. These tiles are typically offered in 400 x 400 mm and 600 x 600 mm sizes. Porcelain has been used for centuries because it is stain-resistant and offers protection against fire damage, and it comes in many colours and styles.
What is engineered quartz?
Engineered quartz is made from crushed natural quartz mixed with resin and pigments, then pressed into slabs. It has an even, controlled look and a non-porous surface, so it is easy to clean and does not need sealing. It is popular for kitchen countertops, vanity tops, wall panels and commercial surfaces. It is not a natural stone, so it does not have the same variation, and it can be sensitive to very high heat.
What is porcelain?
Porcelain tiles and slabs are made from fine clays fired at very high temperatures. They are hard, dense and very low in water absorption. Large-format porcelain slabs can look like marble, concrete or wood, and are used for floors, walls, facades and countertops. They work well where uniform appearance and low maintenance are priorities.
Natural stone or engineered: how to decide
- Choose natural stone for unique patterns, authenticity and long-term value.
- Choose engineered quartz for consistent colour and low maintenance.
- Choose porcelain for very large formats and stain resistance.
- Use a mix: natural stone for floors and feature walls, engineered surfaces for kitchens and hospitality counters.
Tell us your project and we will show options of each type with photos and prices.
Ordering and shipping
We can arrange mixed containers so you receive natural stone and engineered surfaces together. Slabs are packed in strong frames and tiles in cartons on pallets. We ship from Mundra and Kandla and prepare invoices, packing lists and bills of lading. Customs classification differs by product, and your broker will confirm codes and duties.
Samples, photos and approval before you order
Natural stone changes from one lot to another, so we never ask you to buy without seeing it. For engineered surfaces, we send real photos and short videos of the stone you will receive, and we can courier a small sample so you can check colour, pattern and finish in your own light. Samples work best when they come from the same lot as your order, so please tell us if you want the sample and the container to match closely.
When you approve a sample, we keep a reference piece. If your order is large, we can send bundle photos before loading, or arrange third-party inspection. This simple process protects you from surprises and protects our relationship with you. Ask us for samples on our request samples page.
Planning your container and shipment
A good load plan saves money. A standard 20ft container can usually carry roughly 25 to 28 tonnes, but the exact limit depends on the shipping line and on road and port rules in your country. Natural stone is heavy, so weight, not space, usually decides how much fits in a container. We calculate the load by weight and by size, so you do not pay for space you cannot use. Mixed containers are possible: you can combine different stones, sizes or products, which helps wholesale buyers keep stock varied.
We ship from the ports of Mundra and Kandla in Gujarat to ports around the world, and we share photos of the loading so you can see how your stone is secured. Sea freight time depends on the route and the shipping line, and we give you an expected time with each quote.
Export documents and customs for engineered surfaces
Clear paperwork keeps your container moving. For every shipment we prepare the commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading, and where your country needs it, a certificate of origin and other documents. Packing wood is treated for export, and we can supply the treatment details if your port requires them. Natural stone is generally classified under HS headings 2515, 2516, 6801, 6802 and 6803, depending on the stone and the product; your broker will confirm.
Customs rules and duty rates differ by country, so please confirm the exact classification and duty with your customs broker or the official tariff of your country. If you tell us your port and clearing agent, we will send documents in the format they prefer, and we are happy to answer their questions directly.
Quality control, inspection and claims
Before packing engineered surfaces, our team checks size, thickness, surface, colour and edges. We separate pieces that do not meet the agreed standard, and we explain what is natural variation and what is a defect. You are welcome to arrange third-party inspection before loading, and we cooperate fully with inspectors.
If a problem is found when the container arrives, tell us quickly and send photos of the packing, the damaged pieces and the container condition. We look at each case fairly and work with you on a solution. Good packing, honest photos and clear agreements keep claims rare.
