India is one of the world’s biggest sources of granite. Many buyers import it because the choice of colours is wide and the stone is strong. Importing can feel hard the first time, so here is a simple guide.
Step 1: Decide what you need
Before you contact a supplier, know the basics: the granite colour, the product (blocks, slabs, tiles or countertops), the size and thickness, the finish and the amount you want.
Step 2: Ask for a quote
Send these details to a supplier like Natural Stone Cart. A good supplier replies quickly with a price, photos and the time needed. Always ask for real photos of the stone, not only catalogue pictures.
Step 3: Approve a sample
Natural stone changes from lot to lot. A sample helps you check the colour and finish before you order a full container.
Step 4: Agree the terms
Write down the price, quantity, payment terms and shipping terms (such as FOB or CIF). Ask about packing and about who checks quality before loading.
Step 5: Packing and loading
Granite is heavy. Slabs need strong frames and tiles need strong cartons or crates. Ask for photos of the packing and the container being loaded. See how we do it on our packing page.
Step 6: Shipping and papers
Your supplier sends the shipping documents, such as the invoice, packing list and bill of lading. Share them with your customs agent so they can clear the goods smoothly.
Step 7: Check on arrival
When the container arrives, check the goods and tell your supplier fast if there is a problem. Take photos.
