Sandstone wall cladding: natural texture for any wall

Sandstone wall cladding: natural texture for any wall

Sandstone cladding is a thin layer of natural stone fixed to a wall. It gives the look and depth of a solid stone wall with less weight and cost. Natural Stone Cart is a sandstone cladding supplier in India. We export sandstone wall cladding in stacked strips, split-face panels, ledgestone, tiles and large panels for exterior facades, feature walls, fireplaces and garden walls.

If you are searching for sandstone wall cladding India, sandstone wall tiles or natural stone wall cladding for export, this page explains the styles and how to choose.

Styles of sandstone cladding

Stacked strips are narrow pieces in different lengths that are laid in rows for a layered look. Split-face panels have a natural rough surface for strong texture. Sawn panels are smooth and clean for modern buildings. Tumbled pieces have soft edges for a rustic, aged feel. You can also mix colours such as buff, grey, green and rust for a natural blend. Corner pieces are available so that outside corners look complete.

We can prepare cladding in sizes that suit your installer, for example 150 mm high strips in mixed lengths, or tiles of 600 x 150 mm.

Inside and outside use

Sandstone is a hard-wearing stone suited to outdoor use, but quality varies between types. For exterior cladding, choose dense, low-absorption sandstone and ask for test information. Inside, sandstone adds warmth to feature walls, fireplaces and restaurant interiors. Make sure the fixing system matches the wall type and the weight of the cladding. Your installer should follow local building rules, and large panels may need mechanical fixings.

We share technical details from the producer and recommend discussing the fixing method with a qualified installer.

Colour choices

Light buff and cream sandstone brightens a wall. Grey and blue-grey stones give a modern, calm look. Green and brown blends feel natural and rustic, which works well in gardens and rural settings. Red and pink stones add warmth and are popular for heritage-style buildings. Colours vary by lot, so sample first.

For large projects, order all material at once from the same lot and mix packs on site to spread natural variation across the wall.

Packing and shipping

Cladding is packed in strong cartons or wooden crates with edge protection so corners do not chip. Pallets are strapped and loaded carefully. We plan the container by weight and size, and ship from Mundra and Kandla. Worked sandstone cladding is generally classified under HS heading 6802, and your broker will confirm the exact code.

We share photos of every pallet and the loaded container.

Samples, photos and approval before you order

Natural stone changes from one lot to another, so we never ask you to buy without seeing it. For sandstone wall cladding, we send real photos and short videos of the stone you will receive, and we can courier a small sample so you can check colour, pattern and finish in your own light. Samples work best when they come from the same lot as your order, so please tell us if you want the sample and the container to match closely.

When you approve a sample, we keep a reference piece. If your order is large, we can send bundle photos before loading, or arrange third-party inspection. This simple process protects you from surprises and protects our relationship with you. Ask us for samples on our request samples page.

Planning your container and shipment

A good load plan saves money. A standard 20ft container can usually carry roughly 25 to 28 tonnes, but the exact limit depends on the shipping line and on road and port rules in your country. Sandstone paving is heavy, so we calculate pallet numbers by weight. We calculate the load by weight and by size, so you do not pay for space you cannot use. Mixed containers are possible: you can combine different stones, sizes or products, which helps wholesale buyers keep stock varied.

We ship from the ports of Mundra and Kandla in Gujarat to ports around the world, and we share photos of the loading so you can see how your stone is secured. Sea freight time depends on the route and the shipping line, and we give you an expected time with each quote.

Export documents and customs for sandstone wall cladding

Clear paperwork keeps your container moving. For every shipment we prepare the commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading, and where your country needs it, a certificate of origin and other documents. Packing wood is treated for export, and we can supply the treatment details if your port requires them. Worked sandstone paving, setts and kerbs are generally classified under HS heading 6801 or 6802, and rough blocks under 2516.

Customs rules and duty rates differ by country, so please confirm the exact classification and duty with your customs broker or the official tariff of your country. If you tell us your port and clearing agent, we will send documents in the format they prefer, and we are happy to answer their questions directly.

Quality control, inspection and claims

Before packing sandstone wall cladding, our team checks size, thickness, surface, colour and edges. We separate pieces that do not meet the agreed standard, and we explain what is natural variation and what is a defect. You are welcome to arrange third-party inspection before loading, and we cooperate fully with inspectors.

If a problem is found when the container arrives, tell us quickly and send photos of the packing, the damaged pieces and the container condition. We look at each case fairly and work with you on a solution. Good packing, honest photos and clear agreements keep claims rare.

Working with architects, builders and fabricators

Professional buyers need more than a price. Architects want samples and clear specifications. Builders want the right quantity on the right date. Fabricators want slabs that cut well and match across a project. We support all of them with real photos, written specifications, labelled packing and honest delivery dates. Landscape buyers like mixed-size packs and calibrated thickness for fast, neat laying.

For larger projects we can produce in batches, keep reference samples, and share progress photos. If you send a bill of quantities or drawings, we check the details and tell you early if something needs a decision, such as the size of a piece or the thickness of an edge.
