Cobbles and pebbles: small stones with big impact
Cobbles and pebbles: small stones with big impact
Cobblestones, setts and pebbles add texture, colour and character to landscapes. Cobbles are small blocks of stone, often square or rectangular, used for driveways, paths, plazas and edging. Setts are slightly larger and more regular. Pebbles are smooth, rounded stones used for garden beds, borders, water features and decorative surfaces. Natural Stone Cart supplies granite cobbles, basalt setts, sandstone cobbles and natural pebbles from India.
If you are looking for stone cobbles supplier India, landscape pebbles India or granite cobbles for export, here is how it works.
Types and colours
Granite cobbles come in grey, black, pink and mixed tones. Basalt setts are dark and uniform. Sandstone cobbles give warm tones for garden paths. Pebbles come in black, white, brown, grey and mixed colours, polished or natural. We can prepare custom mixes for decorative projects such as pebble mosaics and bordered paths.
Sizes and finishes
Cobbles are commonly supplied in sizes such as 100 x 100 mm and other custom sizes, with natural split, sawn or tumbled finishes. Pebbles are sold by size range, for example 20–40 mm, 40–80 mm or larger, and can be washed and graded. Tell us the size range you need and we will confirm availability.
Uses
- Driveways and entrance courts.
- Garden paths and borders.
- Plazas and public squares.
- Water features and ponds.
- Plant beds and mulch alternatives.
- Mosaic patterns and decorative panels.
Cobbles laid on a proper base are extremely durable and can last for generations.
Packing and shipping
Cobbles are packed in crates or on pallets, and pebbles in bags, boxes or bulk bags on pallets, so they ship safely. Weight is high, so we plan each container carefully. We ship from Mundra and Kandla. Setts and kerbs are generally classified under HS heading 6801, and loose pebbles and gravel may fall under a different heading; your broker will confirm.
Start with a trial order and grow from there
If you are new to importing cobbles and pebbles from India, we suggest a simple plan. First, tell us what sells in your market. Second, review photos and approve samples. Third, place a trial container with a mix of colours or sizes. Fourth, after you receive the stone and see how your customers react, plan repeat orders and volume contracts.
Many of our long-term customers began with one mixed container. We keep your preferred selection and packing details on file, so repeat orders are faster, and we keep you updated if a colour or size changes.

What affects the price of cobbles and pebbles
Buyers often ask for one simple price, but the price of cobbles and pebbles depends on several things. The stone variety and its rarity matter most, because some colours come from small quarries and cost more. Thickness, size and surface finish change the cost, since thicker and larger pieces need more material and more careful handling. Calibration, meaning how exact the thickness and size are, also adds work. Selection grade matters too: a premium selection with very even colour costs more than a mixed commercial selection. Quantity helps, because bigger orders spread packing and loading costs. Finally freight terms (FOB or CIF), the destination port and the exchange rate affect the final number.
Natural stone is heavy, so weight, not space, usually decides how much fits in a container. To get a fair comparison between suppliers, always ask for quotes on the same stone, size, thickness, finish and terms. We write all of these clearly in our quotation, so you can compare line by line.
Samples, photos and approval before you order
Natural stone changes from one lot to another, so we never ask you to buy without seeing it. For cobbles and pebbles, we send real photos and short videos of the stone you will receive, and we can courier a small sample so you can check colour, pattern and finish in your own light. Samples work best when they come from the same lot as your order, so please tell us if you want the sample and the container to match closely.
When you approve a sample, we keep a reference piece. If your order is large, we can send bundle photos before loading, or arrange third-party inspection. This simple process protects you from surprises and protects our relationship with you. Ask us for samples on our request samples page.
Planning your container and shipment
A good load plan saves money. A standard 20ft container can usually carry roughly 25 to 28 tonnes, but the exact limit depends on the shipping line and on road and port rules in your country. Natural stone is heavy, so weight, not space, usually decides how much fits in a container. We calculate the load by weight and by size, so you do not pay for space you cannot use. Mixed containers are possible: you can combine different stones, sizes or products, which helps wholesale buyers keep stock varied.
We ship from the ports of Mundra and Kandla in Gujarat to ports around the world, and we share photos of the loading so you can see how your stone is secured. Sea freight time depends on the route and the shipping line, and we give you an expected time with each quote.
Export documents and customs for cobbles and pebbles
Clear paperwork keeps your container moving. For every shipment we prepare the commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading, and where your country needs it, a certificate of origin and other documents. Packing wood is treated for export, and we can supply the treatment details if your port requires them. Natural stone is generally classified under HS headings 2515, 2516, 6801, 6802 and 6803, depending on the stone and the product; your broker will confirm.
Customs rules and duty rates differ by country, so please confirm the exact classification and duty with your customs broker or the official tariff of your country. If you tell us your port and clearing agent, we will send documents in the format they prefer, and we are happy to answer their questions directly.
